My dad, who is an avid lover of the amateur radio hobby decided he was sick and tired of using rocks and his own attempt at being an outfielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates to string antennas through the trees and other areas of our yard. So upon reading about it in QST Magazine, he decided to make a SPUD GUN. Here's the test run of said spud gun.

Yes, I know that you cannot see the projectiles while they are in the air. The velocity was too great for me to capture them unfortunately. However it was a marvel to see the sheer force and distance traveled. The second shot easily traveled roughly 300-400 yards, or 900-1200 feet. Not bad for four or so hours of work.

Hams, you can chat with my dad and his brother, Tim on 3.953 Mhz usually after 8PM or so.

  • I like it. Nice COC music too! Little scary pointing it at his own face though.

  • what air pressure did you use in the air chamber.

  • I would give him Darvin Award for this 1:28

Do not try this at home.

  • I liked it! Good muic, but I'm not a fan of 75 meters as it is mostly glorified chicken band. Good for 160 though. Nice video!

  • boring!
