You're right about Phoenix laying dormant until recently. I visited twice earlier within the last decade. Every place from Flagstaff, Prescott, down through to Mesa has changed dramatically. Although I hope it doesn't grow too much more, AZ is still the best of places I've ever visited.

lolz, there is NO downtown in PHX whatsoever, just a couple of tall buildings and Chase Field thats it! hahahahaha, still love the city tho
