The Majesty of West African History is the fifth topic in the African Diaspora Lecture Series. In this public lecture given at the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, MD, Dr. Perry L. Kyles uses vivid photo images to tell the illustrations story of West African people during Africa's Second Golden Age.

Topics addressed include:

The relationship between environment and West African cultural development

The intersection between West African (Dogon) scientific knowledge and spiritual beliefs

The West African empires of Ghana, Mali, and Songhai

Queen Nzinga, the Kongo Kingdom, and the Bantu colonization of central West Africa

The Asian and European invasion of West Africa

Dr. Kyles is the founder of African Diaspora Press.African Diaspora Press is an independent publisher of books, DVDs, and CDs that relate directly or broadly to the African world experience.

@dfolks15 Pleasure chatting with you, and i am so happy you have reconsidered the notion of not revisiting the film "Goodbye Uncle Tom" I also think even though it is a strong film, children in the company of parents should view it. No Jewish person would ever tell a Jewish child to forget the Holocaust and they make a point to make a film about it at least once a year. Yes it's very important for your children to know what the beast is capable of, They will face him everyday. Peace

@ruapraia You're right!! They truly cannot be civilized and I'm not trying to forget the ugly past of slavery. I do know how monsterous they can be. Every time I think I've seen the worst of them in terms of past treatments to our ancestors, they've done something even worst than before. I will watch this movie, I even had in mind to purchase "Roots", because I have 5 children with 2 eleven year old boys who really need to know what they're up against. So, thank you for your advice. @dfolks15 I completely agree, and if it's to difficult for you to watch i understand, but i am afraid to many of us want to forget the past, and we can't it's just to important. It's true the movie is raw and is a representation of just how ugly the beast can be. that's why I'll never stop banging on them pay backs gonna be a bitch. Even the earth wants the monster off the planet, look whats happening to their fake world. The Earth can not take another 100 years of them. They can't be civilized.

@ruapraia If I'm not mistaken, I've seen some of "Goodbye Uncle Tom" and it hurts me very much to see our people treated so brutally. When I think about it these white people call themselves human?? Are they serious? They are truly evil monsters. They're not even animals, I'll not insult the animal by camparing them to these white beasts, parasites and cancers of the earth. But, I'll check this movie and see if I've seen it or not. Thanks
