  • lol I was thinking about about going to Japan to teach - but maybe not after hearing about whites being 'rejects'!

Are you still a student or are you actually a tutor?

  • sorry for the late reply. I came home to America in August so I'm no longer a tutor there or a student. I was tutoring at two cram schools for part time jobs to support my apartment funds... It got hectic which is why I didn't make as many videos as I would have liked.

  • The worst mispronunciation of our last name I've ever heard is "Heybob"

How do you possibly get "Heybob" from Hayashi?

    What Otaku?

  • hahaha Heybob?? haha. Doesn't even rhyme!! I think they took one look at our name and then gave up, so they came up with Heybob. Anyways~

Otaku's the Japanese word for a social inept geek, which mainly used to refer to the ones obsessed with anime and anime comics. Now it seems to have turned into anyone who is devoted to any hobby... but that meaning hasn't carried across to america yet.

  • Americans have otaku too... of course. We've all seen them. Except some of these people think that otakus are popular in Japan and the cool thing to be. They are gravely mistaken. In Japan, otakus are seen as social rejects that don't contribute to society. Since otakus aren't part of a group, they aren't a help to society. They're usually very homebody and stay in their rooms mostly, dealing with their most favorite hobby the majority of the time.

  • Since this is an activity that doesn't appear to contribute to society's purpose, the general population of Japan rejects them. They are losers and are unwanted.

  • haha this was you're 1st journal its 3yrs from now....how cool...kawaii...

ilove watching/listening to ur adventures hahaha...ur so great....just keep them coming haha...^^

  • @daiquirikiss Yep, this is sooo true. Otaku's are not popular in Japan. I'm glad I'm not an otaku. I can only watch certain dramas (just to keep listening to Japanese words being spoken) but cannot stand about 80-90% of all Anime's that exist.

Weird thing is I know a friend who is a "true" otaku (he purchases Anime DVD's downloads them like crazy, etc). I still cannot bring myself to telling him that in Japan, otakus are not cool and unapproachable. LOL

  • Miko - georgeous name

  • miyuki is a good name. why don't you use it at least in japan

  • your cute! ^___^

  • >_> i was pretty sure that the meaning of otaku was obsessed hobbyist and/or inept geek, not necessarily pertaining to animation and comics. but that, in AMERICA, it pretty much means inept geek that's obsessed with anime and manga...

  • I was in Japan for a year. Well in Okinawa on a military base any way. I found Japanese culture was so fasinating. I wanted to learn Japanese then but I never got around to really learn it. I also find half japanese girls are so Kawaii too. When you mentioned it I had to laugh because back then my friends on base also talked about it. Well anyhow I am learning Japanese in my spare time watching youtube now a day.
