IN MEMORY OF THE BRILLIANT GARY MOORE!! Gary Moore is an Irish guitarist/singer/songwriter. He began his career in the 60s playing with various bands. In 1979, he released his first solo single with help from good friend Phil Lynott.

The combination of Moore's blues based guitar and Lynott's voice produced "Parisienne Walkways" - a song that reached #8 on the UK Top Ten in 1979.

In the U.S., he remains mostly unknown and hasn't shown any interest in touring here.

I discovered him when a friend sent me "Still got the blues" (1990), another one of his most successful songs. I was surprised to hear how good he was, how popular he had been overseas and how unknown he was here.

I chose "Parisienne Walkways" because it has been his most successful solo hit, the lyrics (which I find interesting) were written by Lynott (the music is by Moore) who apparently is referring to the lost romances of a father whom he never knew until much later in life and lastly, it all takes place in Paris.

This was a good excuse to visit Paris again but this time, in the past. All photos used were taken in 1949.
