  • I really like what you have done with the truck something as good as that is well worth restoring. i am buying a 79 LRE in the next day or two from a junkyard it belonged to the state becasue of the school bus yellow paint job and this video has inspired me to rebuild it from the ground up as well. I am currently rebuilding a 77 Dodge D-100 Custom and from the ground up and you're video has helped me alot in the process. Thanks for posting!!!!!

  • I hope you'll put a video here when you're done! Thanks for your comment!

  • I LOVE LRE trucks. My 1st vehicle was a 78 Lil Red truck that was my uncles new he sold it to dad and when I was 14 he gave it to me to get road worthy before I got my 15 y/o permit. I truely miss it sold it in 96 only thing about this one is whats with the giant horns atop the cab? Such a killer job on the truck and I dont get why you left them aboard. Otherwise cherish that baby the trucks are unique and quite fast as well!

  • The reason why I left them on... It is quite simple, my 4 kids who don't care about the originality of the truck wanted me to leave them on. I said to myself "I leave them on until I decide to change the entire roof", because I also want to get rid of the sun roof, it doesn't belong there.

Someday the truck will have it's original look.

  • oh I missed the sunroof. I dont blame you there, seemed popular in 80's for EVERYONE to add suroofs to their trucks. Ilive in WV and there were only 2 EVER in my local area mine a 78 the other a 79. theirs had a sunroof added and black interior. mine was red interior tuff wheel red bench with black carpet. Great truck wasnt blastin on you at all just wondering as it is unusual. ADAM

  • I didn't mind your comment, don't worry! ;)This is my second truck, When I sold my first one back in 1990, I regretted it.

  • That is soo nice now, my dad had one it was the 78, but he sold it and now is kicking himself because of it, before im 30 i will have one because they are classics

  • Great job! I'm starting a Lil Red resto myself and your video will come in quite handy, not just for the 'technical' side, but also as inspiration. A couple of interesting parallels, the bed I'm planning on picking up this weekend is the same green as your replacement. Also, nice VW Fox in the background, looks exactly like the '90 I owned for 11 years.

  • so cool

  • how do you get the wheel walls back on

  • I bougth that truck in the fall of 2009 and re-restore it. The horns and sunroof are now history. If you go, (on you tube) yo "my lil red express partial restoration", you can see the final result. Thanks.

  • freind of mine bought one brand new.

    wow nice job dude!!!!

  • very nice truck i was ashamed at the bumpers thought u was gonna leave them saw you took them off but wtf u left the horns

  • The people who restored this truck? Pat yourself on the back cuz ya did a damn good job, I've seen these trucks at car shows and some of them looked like shit.

  • hell yeah
