I am a massive fan of the old school ships but in think it was right to update them in the new film, keeping the old ones would cause non trekkies to not take the film seriously.

These are ships that were in the Starfleet Technical Manual published by Random House in 1972.

Is it my imagination, or do some of those ships look like they came from Star Fleet Battles, specifically the USS Australia (Fed BCG) and USS Kearsarge (Fed NCL)? Nice rendering, either way. Kudos, Sir!

@JayEey I don't know why they decided to "update" the ships. It's so stupid. Why not just honor the show's past and use what came before. The models of the TOS Constitution class in DS9 and Enterprise were gorgeous!
