what are you noobs talking about, i put aem cai, headers, 3 inch midpipe, hks exhaust, its making 215hp on the wheels, thats over 35 wheel hp from stock.

@ktm066 dude its a rotary unless you boost it they are pretty much maxed out when all motor the most you can do is full exhaust and an intake. then if you have money aftermarket ecu and a lot of tuning then your done

není ten červený kousek z merkuru?:D

@urbex2007 Well, rx8 is definitely maxed out at bolt-ons. Rx8 truly have been designed by those who really wanted rotary to go as far as it could, and that's where this passion shows. Some other cars however are built with cheapest parts available, so aftermarket bolt ons do make a difference.

@Amypr1ncess I'm trying to figure out if you're saying a Cold Air Intake was good for you or not. Please use full words so the rest of us know what you mean. I'm only 21 and I feel old as hell trying to understand new lingo.

oh so it sounds like that for you too. i thought it was air escaping somewhere. i just got home from installing my AEM, will be posting videos later.

As standard the '8 is fairly well tuned and has very little in the way of extra power to be offered by simple bolt on's. I personally have the AEM CAI and Borla exhaust. They allow a little more responsiveness, more noise and tiny power increases without further tuning on the ECU side of things.
The AEM is one of only 2 decent intakes available for the '8 that doesn't mess up the maf readings due to the mesh grilles and specific pipe diameter. Only reason mazda restricted the 5-7bhp is noise!

oh thank god someone else knows what they are talking about. This type of modification is often only going to decrease performance. Ever wondered why the air filter housing and pipes are designed for each car? The boy racers don't, but it is fun seeing them make their car worse than standard - it slows them all down. Silly pipes and a K&N (which is NOT a filter) will just cause more noise. I prefer a quiet and fast car. The MOD market is HUGE business & he was cammed by advertising!
actually you are wrong. ask anyone who has tuned their rx8 and taken it to a dyno. The rx8 is fairly maxed out when stock so bolt on things like cat backs and cai's will not make a huge difference, more for noise.
