Drawing upon the experiences of Apartheid (South Africa), Yale philosopher Nicholas Wolterstorff discusses love (as in Christianity's command to "love thy neighbor") as having two dimensions. Without both dimensions present, he explains, love becomes malformed and acts of love, as benevolence, become an instrument of oppression (as was the case in South Africa). In this video, Dr. Wolterstorff is speaking at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina. 11/09/2009. (video is approx. 9 minutes long) Wolterstorff is the author of the popular book Lament for a Son. His latest book is Justice: Rights and Wrongs.
