John Colapinto wrote about the Plastiki, a boat made entirely of recyclable plastics, that David de Rothschild plans to sail across the Pacific Ocean.

Here, de Rothschild and members of the crew talk about the building of the boat, at Pier 31 in San Francisco, California. This video was filmed in January 2009; since then, Mike Rose, the boats chief builder, has left the project.

Why are we producing plastic bottles at all? Glass is recyclable and not toxic. Bottled water is no better than tap unless its distilled and then it is missing vital minerals. If they would stop poisoning the public water supply with fluoride and treat it with chlorine dioxide, people could use the tap water they pay for. It , could be put in a single reusable non toxic sports bottle if need be and then we wouldn’t have all of the plastic bottles to contend with.

the fuckers got balls or maybe its just stupidity but their lucky they made it with that floating rickety rat trap. kinda weird though, these fuckers got all the education and money in the world yet are too stupid to make the hull streamline, put a fucking keel on it and put a motor that actually works on it.

I think it's a positive sign if someone from such a family should become conscious of these things. If his concern spread across all the upper classes then maybe they would stop exploiting us.
