  • "Watch your contact." Ha..what contact?Somehow they get points without even touching their opponents and when a strike actually comes close to landing they pull it.I don't understand this Soo Bahk Do stuff really.I practice Chinese Kenpo, and our point sparring is way different being as we make actual contact.Oh,and the guy on the left is slower than molasses. If Red is a pretty high up rank, hell even if it's not, that guy doesn't deserve it.That's just one man's opinion though.

  • @KingGingerbread5O Hard to see but the spinning back kick made direct contact. Getting within 6 inches of someone's head or ribs isn't easy. I also studied Kenpo and you're right, full contact but we used hand and foot padding to reduce injuries. In SBD, control is up to each participant. Judges consider technique and control so actually making contact isn't necessary.

  • @sbdstudent Well I can respect that as long as that's how the style is carried out in tournaments and what not. But,we wear foot, hand, and head gear when we spar too.it's just when a judge says watch your contact to us it means we've almost hit an illegal target or we're hitting too hard.I judge point all the time, and I certainly wouldn't call a strike that didn't land. Then again,I don't practice Soo Bahk Do.That guy is still slower than molasses though.

  • @truegamer4ever - If you're a martial artist it's not a good idea to listen to body builders. They probably advocate doing body part splits as well, even though modern science has proven that the body works in movements not body part groups. As for the flexibility training, it's too big a subject to go over in a youtube comment, but I'll comment on your profile explaining more.

  • @180Patrick360 Oh OK so your doing what Chuckster Norris did, cool. I just got promoted to Orange last month.

  • @180Patrick360 I powerlift, and from my experience and hearing it from others, weightlifting your leg muscles actually make your muscles tighter, which would defeat the purpose of stretching, which makes them looser. Look it up or ask in any bodybuilding forum, you'll see. Now you can still lift with your legs and get them stronger as long as you balance it out with stretching from what I've heard, but I'm not too sure. I do do deadlifts, but close stance ones so it doesn't work my legs.

  • @truegamer4ever - As for flexibility, you don't have to stretch much to become very flexible. The most important thing is to do full range of motion strength exercises 2-3 times a week and use isometric stretching at the end of your workouts (2-3 times a week too). Lunges, squats, deadlifts, etc. (compound exercises) will strength your muscles within the full ROM and you'll get flexible.

  • @truegamer4ever - Okay, I will. I practice Tang Soo Do right now, I'm a red belt too as a matter of fact. Ironic, I think. :D

  • @180Patrick360 It's all good lul, what martial arts do you take? But yea I understand, I won my regional in March in form/sparring, unfortunately can't compete in the nationals this July 10th because it's on my Sabbath (Saturday). I honestly don't think I'll be in a real sparring tournament in a WHILE and that sucks cause I'm tired of sparring people in my class they SUCK Lul. I'm about to take Brazilian Jujitsu too, check my page for round 1 of my sparring tourney.

  • @truegamer4ever - Whoops, I forgot that they were 46+. I thought they were in their 20's or so! I agree with you about people doing tournaments for fun though, but national tournaments are a little different for most people. And yeah, I saw that vid too. LOL!
