Taiwan deserves membership in the United Nations.

"I'm one of those people that call myself Taiwanese, not Chinese, and will school anyone that tries to tell me otherwise.

And I'm angry--angry at the power-hungry, oppressive Chinese Nationalist government that has been the source of such identity fraud. And while the historical claims to power are disputable, what cannot be denied are the corrupt politics and 40+ years of repressive martial law, targeted massacre of over 20,000 of the country's most educated, imprisonment and execution of perceived political dissidence, attempted extinction of the Taiwanese language, and continual use of missiles pointed at the island as a threat. What's more is the fact that Taiwan has been a thriving sovereignty with one of the world's strongest economies, richest cultures, and newest democratic values. They flourish best independent from China, who continues to stand in the way of Taiwan's self-actualization and inclusion in the global community."

There is a reason I am not deleting all the hateful and negative comments from the supporters of China's actions: I believe in freedom of speech, an idea that the Chinese government suppresses.

  • 私は台湾の国連加盟を支持する。

I support UN membership for Taiwan.

    台湾は独立国である。

    Taiwan is a independend country.

  • as long as the peoples republic of china stays in the UN, taiwan is never going to join UN. china has a permanent seat in the UN and has the power to strike down a possibility of taiwan joining the UN anytime. why did the UN ignore taiwan and want china to join the UN? its all about who has more power.

  • @hoo320 what are you talking man? =.= You know its not true

  • Taiwanese is not Chinese.

Simply put, Taiwanese is biologically different from Chinese. Culturally, Chinese are mostly racist, we are not. We speak and write Taiwanese, which is very close to japanese. They speak Chinese.Intellectually, Taiwanese people are 50% smarter than Chinese on average. We are only next to Jews. Biologically, average Taiwanese's male organ is about 10 cm longer than those of average Chinese man. In this aspect, we are only next to African American.

  • We need to stop this bickering. Taiwan is composed of 90+% Han Chinese that move there after the Chinese Civil War. Your nationality may be Taiwanese but your ethnicity is Han Chinese. Do you not speak a dialect of Chinese? Do you not write Chinese characters? We are simply the same people separate due to political differences after the civil war. I understand the China may have a lot of negative aspects. However, it is in different stages of development. We need to unite and help each other.

  • cool story 陈水扁

  • hahhaha cool song from MC Hotdog =D 我愛台妹 <3 la la la

  • @glfpes right, Chinas government is the evil, not the chinese people

  • China needs help to destory its government... TW is a lucky place for not occupied by them.

  • And don't try to use your little racism on me because i study economics and history way longer than you have, so i'm glad you're in our country but you need to keep your little Vietnamese ass shut about China, I've been there a few times and i have seen Vietnamese people there who speak Chinese, they can't even deny the fact that China is going to be a powerful nation, U.S can still blow them to bits but we're smarter than that because we know that they support our economy.

  • When did i say i was Chinese and yes my dad works for the American government and God bless the USA and their relationship with China its people like you that need to leave our country, we try to settle peace with our trading countries and quite frankly we don't care about Vietnam, the Vietnam war may be trying settle disputing territories but behind the scenes it was just America and China getting into a hissy fit, it just happened to be in Vietnam.
