@buzzindub I checked and he was actually involved in the landings at Salerno, Italy, which took place in Sept.1943. So he must have been drafted before that, possibly even 1942. I don't even remember where I got the idea it was 1944.He was in Italy until the end and then did Occupation Duty in Austria. Unfortunately for me my Dad was one of those guys who said almost nothing about his war service.He just wanted to forget it.I know very little.
