  • Thank you so much! :-)

  • @JBFANN Thank you!

  • Seems like there must be someone at the second console but neither mentioned nor shown. (RCMH Wurli has two identical consoles 0 one stage left and one stage right.)

I have many fond memories as a child in the early '40s visiting NYC and the Music Hall.

  • @joeloewy Thank you for the comment. Yes, you are correct. There is two identical Wurlitzer organs located, as you had mentioned, one stage left and one stage right.

It is a fond memory to many people and continues to be a joyful tradition. Happy holidays to you!

  • Not for nothing BUT...What the heck were they playing? -- No wonder the audience wasn't listening. The organist/s need to play Christmas music, not fancy segues, tricky hidden arrangements, et'al in order to attract the audience. Also need to turn on the trems...The organ is, after all, the RCMH GRAND Wurlitzer Theatre Organ for crying-out-loud, not some musty, old regular, boring pipe organ! [Although one wouldn't know it by the playing]. Get a REAL theatre organist to play the damn thing!

  • Great video thanks!. RCMH management really does not think much of the Wurlitzer. There's NOT ONE PICTURE OF IT in their guide! Pictures of everything else though! Whatta diss!

  • beautiful amazing truly great music play 100 thumbs up 5 stars to music

  • I've not had the opportunity of hearing this 4/55 in the venue where its installed at, but a shame that whoever manages the theatre says nothing about this theatre organ on the website, etc. This was once the magnum opus of the organbuilder Wurlitzer Organ Co. and yet there is little to support the heritage of the instrument.

  • I would even love to see this organ played twice as long before the show - not a mere five minutes! It would be fantastic and a great reat to everyone!

  • I also agree with bobbymak880: Radio City Music Hall should take a nice color picture of the console and publish it as a poster and have it for sale both in the lobby after the show and online. I bet ever theater organist in the country would love to have a picture of it. They could print the specfication at the bottom and include all the toy stops. The banner above could read: RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL - WURLITZER THEATER ORGAN

  • @newyorkreel

Correction...ONE organ, TWO consoles controlling the same set of pipes. Truly a magical sight none-the-less.

Unfortunately, this duo doesn't even come close to Liebert & Bohr.

Anyways, thanks for posting the video...Brings back a lot of memories.

  • Great video, wonderful to see. Who's the organist?

  • Great video! It makes me so happy to see the organ!
