@dantehunter i could easily forget your idiotic comments, but then you go and make more. The Rus loses, so how is he invincible? I'm fighting him, and am already 'lower' than him seeing how he is 6'-5" and 400 lbs., it's not likely that rushing him will accomplish whatever Naruto move you are daydreaming about. Stick to your cartoons and quit trying to converse with the adults.

The spear guy should just throw the spear and charge forward, it's impossible to cut through all that fat.

are these dwarfs?!?!?!?!?!

@skallagrimm i suspected the spear would win because of the speed, i figured the axeman would be essentially using his axe like a shorter spear and parrying etc,

i wish i could go back in time with a few guys and a tank with an unlimited supply of ammo and plenty of food to conquer rome or take back Jerusalem....we would be the fire breathing dragon of old.

@tantorecords I've broken a dozen spearshafts in a number of ways. Come out anytime and I'll be glad to show you. The point is, it isn't easy and actually breaking one as your initial move is retarded. I was addressing that. Deflecting the spear away is your intent, to get past the head... and that can go any number of ways. Watch more of our over two hundred videos and you'd see we know what we're doing? Where's a vid of you fighting against a spear? With the spear? ...holding a spear?

@skallagrimm i've done it plenty of times, it's incredibly easy. I'd like to see you break an inch thick spear shaft with a blunt re-enactors sword in one hit lol. In the heat of battle spearmen in my experience constantly over extend their thrusts. And that's not because theyre bad spearmen, it's just the adrenaline. It's enough to throw themselves off balance and for you to either grab the shaft and pull them over, or knock it to the floor, stand on it and kill them.
maybe its because im alot more timid, or it could be because spears arnt used like that in our group
but just charging a spear isnt easy, especiall a 2 handed 8 foot spear
i notice that you guys do all your thrusting, with both hands at fixed points along the shaft, this makes it harder to change your range and means you have to get closer to deal a blow all good for the swordsman
we use the punch method sliding the spear through the forward hand allows us to get moe speed and more reach

@elgostine We call that "pool cueing" and we try to avoid it with spears. Of course, that is how you get the extra reach and deliver a solid blow with a spear, but it also takes away your control over the tip and how much force you use... as a safety concern, we try to maintain a two handed thrust as most of our fighters are wearing no armor.

@skallagrimm Conversely, its our standard method of 2 handed spear use, that said only more experienced guys (which i am not unfortunately) can fight with spears or polearms i.e daneaxes though the spear is considered the more dangerous of the two because of the fact that thrusts can get deflected upwards quite easily by a shield rim into the throat or face by accident, But I’m curious if you guys have indeed tried 2 handed spear verses the longaxe, if so, what was the outcome?
elgostine 2 months ago
@elgostine Our two handed fighters are our more experienced fighters. It's not a starter weapon for us, like many other groups. And tech. speaking, everyone should probably have one, but... you know. Anyway, I would say the boarspear wins over the longaxe a little more than half the time. It's got reach and speed of delivery. But, when the longaxe wins, you can imagine it would be an ugly outcome for the spearman.
