Rededication of the State Capitol. That's Chief Ken Adams of the Upper Mattaponi on the right. I want to apologize to the chief for misidentifying him and being and rude when I did. We got off on the wrong foot when I made a crack, "What, no Pamunkey?" when I asked him what tribes were misrepresented. Then I paparazzied him. As another photographer, Eddie Adams, once said, "If your photographs aren't good enough, you're not close enough." But I wasn't being culturally sensitive as well as being a distraction as they were getting ready for the ceremonies. The chief and I had words about this later after the Rock the Boat ceremony. The chief was the bigger and better man, in that he approached me afterwards to straighten things out. I've been dealing with flaming from Opie & Anthony fans lately so I initially overreacted. Also, I've been senstized to First Amendment issues from several run-ins with the Richmond Police Department. For the record, I would like to see all eight tribes in Virginia recognized, the granting of gaming rights to tribes, a full acounting and reparations by the Bureau of Indian Affairs for the scandalous mismanagement of Native American accounts, and a cabinet-level Department of Indigenous Peoples. Once again, my apologies to Chief Adams.
