idra was probably expecting the marines to be in front and hence did that to catch the tanks that at the back. .....

Him losing all those muta's didnt have anything to do with marines/thors being extra specially good against mutas (they are super efficient against them don't get me wrong). His mutas got slaughtered because idra right clicked them into the middle of drewbie's entire army.
This was a terrible control mistake, not because drewbie's marine/thor comp was particularly special or noteworthy.
