This interview was conducted at the Left Forum in New York City on April 18, 2009.

The Really, Really Free Market (RRFM) movement is a non-hierarchical collective of individuals who form a temporary market based on an alternative gift economy.[1] The RRFM movement aims to counteract capitalism in a non-reactionary way. It holds as a major goal to build a community based on sharing resources, caring for one another and improving the collective lives of all. Markets often vary in character, but they generally offer both goods and services. Participants bring unneeded items, food, skills and talents such as entertainment or haircuts. A RRFM may take place in an open community space such as a public park or community commons.

In Our Hearts is a New York City based Anarchist network made up of autonomous collectives, projects and individuals who share the goal of building a culture of resistance in the City and beyond.
Our goal is to provide to provide a space where interested people can find other like-minded individuals to start new projects and plug into existing open collectives or even bring their existing projects into the In Our Hearts Network.

Action Speaks Louder than Words: In Our Hearts is action orientated; its purpose is not to exist as an organization but instead to provide a space that facilitates and supports cooperation between collectives, affinity groups and projects involved with the network. We seek to do so by creating a space for social interaction and face to face conversation.

In the Summer of 2007 In Our Hearts joined together with number of other radical organizations to found the 123 Community Space in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn. The only funding we receive to operate a wide variety of programs and projects comes from small personal donations. If you would like to support us by making a monetary contribution you can go to our website and become a contributing member for $25 per month for 6 months, or make a one time donation of any amount. Otherwise, drop by during open hours or email us at 123tompkins@riseup.net. Thanks for your continued support!

Get involved with In Our Hearts!
Do you have an idea you think we'd be interested in that you'd like help with, or do you want to join an existing project? Get in touch and perhaps we can support each other. We are always looking for new friends to work with gathering and cooking food for Grub community dinners, fund-raising for political prisoners, organizing Really Really Free Markets as well as making street actions happen and helping out at the 123 space.

  • Haha! That's awesome

The free market is a catchy term but is an oxymoron. There's nothing free in a market buddy, makes no sense lol.

But a really really free market, now that's a good idea!
