Most moving part of BoB in my opinion (half german):
Nixon: "Hitler's dead. Shot himself in Berlin."
Liebgott: "Should've done that 4 years ago. Would've saved us a lot of trouble."
Nixon: "Yeah... He should have.
But he didn't."
Goosebumps every frickin' time.

This scene was incredibly moving the first time I saw it, especially being a classical music lover and having an interest in military history. Beethoven transcends all the cruelty and destructiveness of the war and captain Nixon's assertive correction chokes me up.
Take one of the lowest points in human history and add the affecting music of our greatest composer and you can reduce anyone to tears.
PS: One of the violin players reminds me of a young-looking Mahler.

This scene was actually really moving when I saw it for the first time.

they could have used the first movement for this scene as well, as i find that one much more darker than this movement, however the entire quartet itself is his best work

@airbornetr00per Webster. Not Liebgott.

one of the most beautiful pieces ever made, MTFRIP
-
-"tell you one thing about the Krauts,
they still clean up good..."
-"yeah, all you need is a little mozart..."
-"beethoven"
-"Sorry sir?"
-"Its not mozart, thats beethoven"

@harryminorhood Beethoven's 6th movement is from the dark ages, the plague, maddness, and delight from Eastern Europe....Hauntingly beautiful.

Yes, actually, some time ago I realized my mistake. I wrote that 2 months ago btw.
Thanks for the correction.
it's the 6th movement, not the first

Although I said it would be the 4th, you are right anyway. It is indeed the 6th, sorry, my mistake!

what is the name of the music?

That is the String Quartet No. 14 Op. 131., 4th movement by L.v.Beethoven.
IMO the important thing is, what he says at the end "That is not Mozart - that´s Beethoven".
Clearly the greatest composer of all times, again IMO
