Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) helped Aimee Comeau with her chronic pancreatitis. Drs. Douglas Pleskow and Ram Chittani discuss the advantages of this diagnostic tool that can also allow for on the spot treatment.
@jackyserns I had an ERCP to have a gallstone taken out that was left behind in the bile duct after the gallbladder was taken out. The dye used in the ERCP caused pancreatitis. That was 11 months ago & I still am having problems. They did not tell me the risk of having chronic pancreatitis. I was talking with another MD the other day and he works at Mayo. He said they downplay the % of people that get it after the ERCP. The 9% is probably more like 30%. Major surgery would have been better!
I switched to a vegan high raw food diet and I don't get any attacks from CP. The only problem I have now is I can't digest any fats so I take enzymes for that.
@padude64 yea I stopped alcohol cause it hurts so much when I drink. I drinked alot for about 10 yrs so I think that did it. I lost alot of weight cause it hurts when I eat, well it hurts even whe I dont eat. U say liquids and no heavy food but for how long??
I have pseudo-cysts from my CP and one is compressing my common bile duct. I get stents placed to keep duct open. Does this hospital/center do EUS to remove pseudo-cysts? I can't go through another open surgery to remove the pseudo-cysts. I've already had two.
i had gallstones and instead of taking them out...... they did a ercp and it gave me pancreatitis. its the most horrible feeling that led to everything inside getting infected i had to go to a different hospital to have open galbladder surgery.. than internal bleeding.. ercp isnt the right thing unless it is done right and not for gal stones
