If you know someone at the company or someone who knows the person you're writing to, drop that person's name in the first sentence. If not, then address how you can solve a current problem, meet a particular need, or achieve a desired goal the company is facing. Or, as a colleague of mine says, "tell them how you can ease their pain."
Great advice for a cover letter. Do you have any suggestions for an opening sentance that will grab the reader's attention? Thanks
