Open (minus sponsor intros) to CBS's Feb. 27, 1958 "Playhouse 90" telecast, "Portrait Of a Murderer," starring Tab Hunter, Geraldine Page and Elizabeth Patterson. Introduced by William Lundigan.
Definitely videotape; the opening titles and bumpers were on film.
I'm certain only a few Playhouse 90 shows were preserved on videotape while all others were kinescoped; remember, videotape was both new AND expensive in the 1950s.
Wow. I forgot how suspenseful even the opening credits were from P90: the 'twinkling stars' special FX, the Alex North fanfare ("duh-duh-duh, DUH-DUH DUUUHHH!!"). Is this from a videotape? It looks too clear and contrasty to be a kinescope.
GREAT SHOW,THANKS ALLOT FOR SHARING.
