LOTS of very cool stuff is not on goofy itunes -- just the stuff that's deemed sellable by the Music Industry. Don't fall for their propaganda about "hipness" and availability and you'll be happier with a better music library!

To be fair to the MacLeods they are kind of relevant in that the song wouldn't exist without a MacLeod. Only the tune is Scottish. The tune of the verse was a traditional rowing tune collected by an Annie MacLeod who supposedly composed the tune of the chorus herself. Words were then put to by Sir Harold Boulton, an Englishman.

This is the best version of this song I've heard -- why isn't it on itunes? And it makes me want to go back to Scotland -- many thanks for posting it!

What a beautiful version of this great song -- and how young they look! The images are lovely, too: thank you for posting this.

@ljotulf I can tell by you're name that you've done some significant research into MacLeod history. So yes, you're right, it's not apt at all. Still a pretty shot, though.

@QuietReckoning The MacLeod's of Dunvegan did their utmost to capture Charlie - so it's hardly apt that Dunvegan Castle appears in the video for this song.
