To quantize or not to quantize. It's not a question when it come to house music. As Bill Holland knows, the only question when it comes to dance music and the Alesis SR18 is: where do we want to cowbell to fall?

Bill shows us how to wrangle up a decent beat, and even how to sequence a bassline underneath, all from scratch.

  • doing a pattern like this one is easy. When a song has a lot of chord changes, or a walking bass, it is murder... or is there an easier way? help!

  • yes! just change the notes the bass is playing. For more accurate playing, hook up a midi keyboard and you can play the bassline more naturally. Also, create different patterns and then throw them into song mode.

  • Thanks

do you know how to insert a beat numerically or is it even possible?

    Thanks
