This short animated video shows the latency stage of Herpes simplex virus. After the first contamination, the virus slips down the sensory neuron and reachs the neuron soma. Latency stage is established and the productive infection is supressed. HSV can stay in that form for a long period of time until reactivation moment. Than it migrates back to the epithelial cells that are innervated by the same neuron and initiats the productive infection.
