December 29, 2008 - As part of a group of 60 people from the Atlantic
Life Community, three mothers, Heidi Schloegel, Ellen Grady, and Clare
Grady, were arrested outside the Israeli embassy. The group was
petitioning embassy officials for an end to Israeli air strikes on
Gaza. The three approached the embassy gate singing "Peace, Salaam, Shalom"
and holding signs which read, "Peace. Stop the killing," and "Stop the war on the children." They knelt and prayed before being arrested. The three mothers were
held over night, and appeared for
arraignment in Superior Court of the District of Columbia

  • God fearing......not police fearing.

Thank you Ellen, Clare, Heidi. On your knees, in prayer, with not an ounce of violent intention on your faces was too much for these armed men. And too much for Israel's image. God be with those who are suffering in GAZA.

  • Why waste your time? Do you really think there will ever be peace in the middle east??

  • @MrSkydog I pretty much have nothing else to hold but hope and faith, and "ever" it's a loooong period of time

  • Rules are rules ladies stop being idiots......nothing will change by your action, nothing it just makes you look pathetic and weak.....courts are the way to change, look at the history......

  • They should have stayed in other side of road weather than getting into the trouble with the cops people should stayed in other side

  • Go to Gaza, and spread the same peaceful prayers.

  • THank you all for this action and for video taping it so I can share it here in Redwood Valley

  • we are proud of them. nowdays world become jungle, the powerful eat the weak and there is no fair

  • interesting. all the chanting was a little bit creepy but interesting. unfortuately people have to realize that protesting like this doesnt exactly help. they should have just stayed across the street. they already had the media attention they needed to spread the word.
