La Grande Chartreuse

The Grande Chartreuse is the headmonastery of the Carthusian order. Founded by St Bruno, the buildings today date back to 1676 when the monastery was rebuilt for the last time by Dom Le Masson.
Mass in the pictured chapel, to be found lefthand from the main entry, every Sunday at 11 o'clock.

How long did you have to wait for a permission? I know it's very difficult to grant it (well, Statutes are strict), but it must something beautiful that visit of LGC... I would like to get there once...

@AureusVenerabilis You need no permission to enter the valley. Actually they have a museum to welcome visitors, and to give an impression of Carthusian life. You don't get into the monastery itself, obviously. But you can take a walk around. That's it.

Thanks. I meant a permission to visit the LGC monastery, not the valley :-) I heard about that museum, it is situated a couple of kilometers from the charterhouse, I think.
