This animation was my final project for graduation, and implements my skills in both 3D and 2D animation.
In this particular animation, I use a combination of both 2D and 3D animation to explore the nature of our internet-driven society. Almost everyone in today's society is in some way involved with the internet. Whether it's social networking, gaming, e-mail, or shopping, the internet has become an integral part of modern day American life. This reliance on the internet is also seen through our reliance on technology. Cell phones, cars, television, computers; all of these were once items that were considered a luxury but have now become widely available in our society. Millions of people take this reliance of technology as an inescapable routine, however, it is necessary that we break away from this cycle.
In order to explore this idea, my animation focuses on a young man who, despite his surroundings, can't seem to rip himself away from his computer. As my character is sucked into the computer, it becomes apparent that what was once a virtual reality has become his life. His journey through the computer also illustrates the tendencies many people have online. As my character moves from website to website, he shows how people start with an initial goal (for example, checking Facebook), but begin branching out to other distractions with aimless searches on the internet. In the end, my character hasn't learned from anything from his journey, as he once again returns to his reliance on technology.

@gmoorisson Thanks! The program I used for the 3D segment was Maya, and for the 2D I used AfterEffects and Premiere Pro. I made the sprites using the pencil tool in Photoshop (took forever O_o) and everything else was handrawn and then edited in Illustrator. And I went to George Mason University for school :)
