It seems that many of the victims in Ft Hood were hit by friendly fire - there were plenty of people around taking out their weapons and shooting at who they thought was the crazy guy. Only they were only shooting at other people like themselves. A sort of chain reaction set in where people shot at each other thinking each other must have been the crazy guy.
