  • great info carl, particularly for a beginner like me, i didnt realise it could crack as fast and as much leaving the heart in...just a question - might seem like an obvious one, but is the heartwood found in every part of the tree e.g. branches and trunk??, i was just wondering about smaller branches whether they had it as well??

  • Yes the heart is in the branches and trunk and the rings go from there.

    Thanks,

    Carl

  • Hi Carl,re the logs do you only paint the ends thank's john uk.

  • Yes just the ends to help slow down the drying a bit.

  • Thanks so much... Very helpful as I'm just starting out with turning.

  • Glad to help,
