for me, the song is basically about how love can turn into obsession, and that if you spend enough time in a relationship with someone who seems kind at first but turns into a possessive animal, it's hard to see past all the smiles and bouquets of flowers that youre used to, hoping one day they will return. And until they can wisen up, and learn that some people just can't change, they will spend the rest of their lives being another lovestruck 'fool'.

Well, that's the way it goes sometimes. Love can make you ill (both mentally and physically) and when that happens there's barely anything you can do to cure yourself. This is called the Stockholm Syndrome.. Look it up.
