An episode from Doodles Weaver's 1960's kiddie show "A Day With Doodles." Doodles Weaver was the brother of famed NBC executive Pat Weaver (who created both the "Today Show" and the "Tonight Show") and uncle of movie star Sigourney Weaver (Pat's daughter).
Lesson. never invite a house guest with the name doodles.

Doodles is probably best known for being a wacky vocalist in Spike Jones band. I loved these little shorts as a kid. You knew it was dumb, but laughed anyway. I guess we knew Doodles was putting us on. (We knew he was actually pretty sharp from listening to him sing "the Man on the Flying trapeze" & the horse race skit) Amazing what you can do with one camera and no live dialogue . They must have filmed these on Saturdays with a borrowed camera, LOL.

Oh man, you and me both.
I was 5 around 1969 or 1970, and also remember seeing it on WPIX 11 (which is where I would soon get my groove on for Chiller Theatre.)
When I saw this again here at Youtube, one thing that I instantly remembered was in the end credits, where Doodles opens the box and the monster hand comes out, with that piano music in the background.
Thank God for such innocent and fun filled programming, and may you RIP, Mr. Weaver, we'll see you again :-)

Wow...the last time I saw this was over 40 years ago, when I was a little kid. What great memories! Doodles Weaver was like Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, Peter Sellers, and the Three Stooges, all rolled into one! If any more of these sketches are still around, I would love to see them. Thanks for posting!

Yes, the last time I saw this was on WPIX-TV [New York] in 1972-'73, where it was seen as "filler" after "The Little Rascals", 'Earl'...

I loved these skits as a kid.
I remember Carol Corbet hosting a show called The Patchwork Family on CBS back in the late 60s early 70s , with a puppet named Rags.
