Mark Fenton is a dynamic presenter on walkable communities who has authored numerous books including the best selling "Complete Guide to Walking for Health, Weight Loss, and Fitness" (2008) and "Pedometer Walking" (2006). Mark's been a lead instructor for the University of North Carolina's National Center for Safe Routes to School, and a facilitator for the walkable community workshop series of the National Center for Bicycling and Walking. His fast-paced presentation shows how we need to change the conversation: it's not just an obesity epidemic, it's an epidemic of physical inactivity and poor nutrition. He makes the case for institutional change to create healthy community settings, and that takes leadership and the 3 Ps : Programs, Projects and Policies. Working together, communities can rewrite the rules so that healthy designs are the norm and people are rewarded for making the active choice.
