Test milling frame-vertex_6off in pine on a Sherline CNC mill. The target machine is a nearby much-faster gantry router with a large capacity. The final material will be something that is more stable than Pine.

CAD: Alibre Design Pro Evaluation. I imported the Mendel Solid Edge files and reworked frame-vertex_6off to improve machinability.

CAM: Vectric Cut2D

CNC control: EMC2

Drives: Geckodrive G201

Part 2 shows how I drill the angled holes.

  • Whew, aggressive milling. :) Were the little connecting tabs generated automatically in CAM? Thanks for sharing the video!

  • Cut2D created the tabs automatically; I just had to click where I wanted each tab to be.
