Racism Is Ridiculous

In the Summer of 2007, the KKK left Alabama and came to Knoxville, TN to exclaim that the brutal murder of two young white kids was an act of genocide against the white race. A group of local environmental activists from the organization Mountain Justice Summer decided that this was a form of pollution that must be fought. And so, dressed as clowns, we marched through the city streets until we came to the place where our "fellow clowns" (note the sarcasm) were gathered for their "party." We danced and sang and played kazoos. We laughed and roared at every joke the Klan told and every funny stupid thing that left their lips. We were confused as to why they were not dressed like the clowns we knew them to be, and we didn't know why they wouldn't laugh with us when they were clearly trying very hard to be so funny. And we were certainly at a loss as to why they left their own party so early...

I wish I could have heard everything as it happened instead of the music score, this sort of thing should have minimal editing and authentic sound, it didn't tell the story, the text told the story, and I don't think that's a good way to do it all.

I'm sorry you didn't like it.

It was my very first documentary/film and it was for a class. The raw footage had very little sound, and you couldn't hear anyone speaking, and we didn't have anyone filming on our side...I think we were a little too focused on getting film of the klan and wide shots of the clowns. Anyway, the video accomplished what my goals for it were, and it can't please everyone. But thank you taking the time to comment AND for not being nasty, but respectfully honest!

I know it looks like the cops are all there to protect the Klan/VNN from a group of clowns...which was hilarious to those who were present. However, the Knoxville PD worked with us and WANTED us front and center in front of the Klan! We got tiny smiles and hidden winks all day, and at the end they gave us a motorcycle escort to the center of town!! They were amazingly supportive. Really, they had the Klan surrounded while we were free to move around ;)

Usually I would agree about getting both sides of the story but not this time. When something is as horrible and harmfull to the human race as white supremacy/racism there is no need to hear the flawed arguments supporters spew out. These are NEVER well educated, travelled, or worldly people coming up with or supporting these xenophobic and yes silly ideas.

@lastwhiteman23 because there IS NO argument. racism is so ridiculous and unscientific that the only logical argument against such blatant stupidity is to match it with how incredibly stupid it is.

i mean stuff like PBS's RACE: the power of illusion have been out for some many years as well as the scientific studies to back it up, for anyone else to claim race even exists only betrays the ignorance of the racist. (as if anything else could betray it more than they own mouths already have)

Thank you for posting this. I wish we had something like this in the UK -- I think it would be a great antidote to the hatred spouted by the EDL (English Defence League) and the BNP (British National Party), both of which are pretty much shorthand for racist morons.
