My father was a U-2 Pilot at Laughlin AFB and Davis-Monthan AFB from 1958 to 1967.

@dmtau go onto google maps and search Beale AFB and look at the satilite imagry its theres 2 or 3 sitting out on the flight line. i work on these everyday i have friends deployed overseas right now who work on these.

@ToonandBBfan the SR-71 was just to expensive to operate and lockheed kept upping the price for replacement parts just a few reasons there.

"These", narrator89? How many are you claiming were downed? Sounds like the typical case of Russian exaggeration (or Norwegian in this case). With the Russians whoring out their military hardware to anyone with the cash, why would this plane still be the most effective reconnaissance platform out there? Seems like the Russian SAMs would be an easy response to the U2, but in actual practice, nothing could be further from the truth.
