  • why is it called String lake....do you have

    any theories?

  • It's a long, skinny lake, but here's what someone else says:

Named in honor of Richard Leigh (Beaver Dick), a guide with the Hayden expedition of 1872. He had his permanent home in Teton valley, Idaho, but spent a good deal of time in Jackson Hole. There was considerable dissatisfaction about changing the name of String Lake to Beaver Dick Lake because Leigh, himself, gave it the name String Lake which accurately describes it.

(it's right next to Leigh Lake)

  • What's the temperature, this time of year?

Who cares, it could be 15 above, and it's still frickin' beautiful! ;)

  • Mid 70's today, dips into the 30's at night. I think it's still warm enough to swim in the river...but I'm a polar bear. (Trapped indoors on this gorgeous day!)

  • it looks like perfect weather for that lake. Every baby fish is happy! ha

  • Me, too- it's been raining all day. We have more coming, but I have to cross our bridge (across Tampa Bay!), to see my best friend, tonight. So, I'll bring the umbrella! LOL!

Brrrrr! 30's at night! Where's my blankey?! ;)
