Hand sharpen a knife with a butcher's steel by keeping the elbow up, using lots of wrist action, holding the blade at a 15-degree angle and using slow movements. Keep knives in good shape on a regular basis with a butcher's steel using instructions from a knife grinding specialist in this free video on sharpening knives.

  • Make sure you post a follow up video on what to do when you slice your thumb

  • LOL nice thumb positioning. How often do you cut yourself? Your thumb should be on the other side of the base of the steel. This video should be removed since it shows how NOT to sharpen a knife.

  • He is a pro

  • There's a guard on that thing for a reason...

  • The dude is old as dirt, hes prolly going to die soon.

  • Thats a scary video. Can't believe he had his thumb sticking up on the handle like that. Guess it shows the highly experienced are not always wise.

  • por eso se quedan sin deditos.

  • that was scary

  • Why are people hating on the man when all he's doing is trying to be helpful?

  • I petition to change the name of YouTube to "YouRetardedFaggotryFromExpertsThatArentExperts"

  • This guy is very sloppy with his hitting and grinding of the blade while he's talking. Can't see how he could get a razor sharp edge by showing us that. They need to spend more time showing and less time talking. THESE ARE NOT EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS!
