This is part 2 of the Pentax K-x battery test. This test is being conducted right after testing the Energizer lithium batteries supplied with the camera. This is the second K-x I have purchased, the first one was returned as it did not function with NiMH batteries.

You can find out more information regarding the Pentax K-x battery issues at the following two threads at dpreview.com:

  • what's the name of the song on 3:35 ?

  • All the songs in the video are by Fever Ray from the self titled CD released in 2009.

The song at 3:35 is called 'When I Grow Up'.

  • Has the new v1.1 firmware fixed this problem?

  • I'd be interested to hear from others if it has. I no longer have the camera to test.

  • Use with Sanyo Eneloop or Varta Ready2Use rechargeable batteries and you will not have problem. The GP Recyko batteries has low perform, a lot of users are trouble with these.

  • I was using the GP ReCyko+ batteries which are the hybrid version. They ended up working really well in the K-x. On a single charge I got over 1000 photos and 30 minutes of movies. This is with a new set of ReCyko+'s that have not been broken in. I would have expected to get better results after 10 or 15 recharges, however, I returned the camera.

  • @Devidzon - I bought Sanyo Eneloops a few months ago and they worked great for a few weeks, but now they don't work in my KX. Only the cheaper rechargeables work. Go figure :-( I would like to install the new firmware in my KX, but not sure if I have enough battery power in any of my batteries to complete the process. I've heard that if your KX runs out of battery power and shuts down during the firmware / software processing in the camera, you are left with a non-functioning camera

  • Pentax has release Firmware 1.20 it resolve all the battery issues ... I've tried Recyo , Gp Batteries , sony , energizer and sanyo eneloop all no problem...

  • @threefourninetyfour, i dont actually own the camera myself but from hundreds of reviews on this camera, (assuming you havent resolved the problem yet) use a rechargable battery with a low natural depletion rate such as the Recyko or the Eneloop batteries, sorry for this being VERY late. :L

  • I'm having the same problem. Thanks god i saw this vid. I'm going to buy non-NiMH batteries. But what the hell, I'm using Energizer which came with the cam! Rechargeable ...

  • that actually reminds me to my good old cassette decks when you had to set your recorder to the different kind of Types. Fe (Type I), Cr (Type II) and so on.

  • There are rechargeable battery issues with this camera... be aware of this problem.... many owners are returning this camera because of this reason.. otherwise a good camera with regular non rechargeable batteries..

  • still have problems... fully charged new rechargeable does not work.. waste of time and money with this camera...
