The only argument you have if for Young, but Young just happened to be a great player. And did you ever consider how much Young benefitted from being under Montana all those years.

Montana was great in SF and still good in KC with trash surrounding him at WR. Montana is the GOAT. Accept it, because the rest of the world did a long ago.

That's failed logic. The quarterbacks after Elway wern't as good compared to Young who is another hall of famer. I don't think the 49ers would have been successful if their replacement QB was at the talent level of say...Brian Griese? He was good for a while, but rather inconsistent, and threw one too many picks. You can have all the weapons you want, but nothing works if your QB can't make it go.

You also have to take into consideration personnel on defense. 49ers had some studs on that side.

@bigbadben. You put up a lot of stats and numbers which is nice. But imo, the only way to really compare montana's performance to rothlisberger's is to put their team against the teams of their respective eras. Put montana's O against the teams we have now and they'd shine. Put Rothlisberger's O against the Eagles and Reggie white, the bears and Mike singletary, Richard Dent , and the Giants and LT and i'd think it would be much more difficult on Rothlisberger than it would be on Montana.
