This a quick vid showing the mods I did too my swoop, it now flies fairly well with a much better power to weight ratio, and will give a good 10 minute flight under full power though it should probably give 12 -13 before the motor switches off.

Its no where near as fast as with the other brushless motor, but the weight penalty really made for overly fast landings and it had to be flown flat out to avoid a stall. As it is now, its a much more relaxed plane, and much nicer to land.

  • Thanks for video. I used your video as a guide for making mods to my Swoop. Man, was it under powered from the shelf. Anyway, it flies great now. Thanks, again. Here are my mod specs:

    motor: CF2805 2800kv brushless outrunner

esc: Power Up 20 Amp Brushless Motor ESC

    battery: 7.4V 1300mAh

prop: 7x3.5 (thrust), or 6x5.5 (fast)

I made a motor mount very similar to yours. From the way it flies, it could also probably use some more surface area on the control surfaces and bigger fins like you did

  • What Size prop do you have on there? Which one is it? I have been trying to figure out what prop to put on mine. I'm using the CF2805 brushless outrunner motor with 2800 kv.

  • Sir how to connect or make to move or rotate the motor separately cuz last time I connect the motor directly to the Battery but it doesn't move. Is that motor not working or I need other materials to attach? can you explain please.

  • I have just modified my Phase 3 Swoop in a similar way and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the C og G point is for this. Also i weighed it and it comes out to total of 250 grams . is OK with a brusheless motor 20 amp ESC and plus 1000 mil amp 2 Cell Lipo. ?

    Thanks

  • Very nice and inspring video! Thanks for giving deeper insight into your Swoop modifications. I espcially like the fact that the prop is mounted a few centimeters away from the wing. My guess is that the plane is considerably more silent than in its the original setup.

  • Interesting vid. I have done very almost the same. I have used a FC2805 2750KV Brushless Outrunner Motor. only 26 grams a 20amp esp and 2 cell 1000 and 1300 bat. (1300 bat. is 2 swoop bat. joined together) goes like a rocket. long flights. I think ive got a 6 + 5 prop. on it.

    Craig.
