Unlike Monty Python's epic quest for the holy grail, Sellers' crusade wasn't heavily publicised. The Sellers crusade was a drawn-out battle, which spanned centuries. Indeed, it continued from 1483 to 1980, because the script was written by Spike Milligan. Milligan's problem was that he always thought that he knew what time it was, because he had it written on a piece of paper. Then, finally, Spike realised that his piece of paper had stopped ticking in 1582.

This was historically appropriate, as Sellers was on a holy quest to recapture part of the great international Christmas Pudding from the Burpers, who were then under the leadership of Genghis Can't. Then, the fatal sock of custard was thrown.

Damage to the skull was consistent with accounts of Sellers having been struck with a sockful of custard.
