  • If I'm going to battle and is asked to choose among bringing a Japanese sword or a European sword or a middle eastern sword(it has to be my own sword), I'll choose the European sword or the middle eastern sword. The reason is that the Japanese sword is just too beautiful, and I can't bare to see it being damaged in battle.

    1. Born and raised in America

    2. The Samurai way of Fighting is way different than the Europeans would fight, the Japanese would be One cut One Kill and Withdraw. So The Samurai has Better speed to engage a dude in full metal plating which is heavy and slows him down makes him and easy target, but the Armor protects most of the European warrior which is his advantage.

    3. If your an Expert Just spill out all the shit so I don't get so annoyed by some Historian

    1. You don't speak English either , as it appears...

    2. Longswords belong in the same weight category as the Katana, but is generally more hilt-balanced than the latter, so it's actually LESS strength-oriented than the Katana.

    3. The only real advantage the Katana has over the Longsword, the speed at which it can be drawn, is easily countered by simply entering the duel with your Longsword already drawn. Otherwise, the Samurai have no speed advantage whatsoever.

  • @Zyamaman

    1: i don't speak Nazi

2: Katana's are meant to slash and cut your opponnet first than just smack your sword into his blade, and the Katana is about Balance but the Long Sword is used by More Steel which is more powerful with brute Strengh

3: In Battle Stances, The Samurai has his Advatage for the Better cut and Speed while Mr.Knight is Drawing his Sword, His Neck is Gushing with Blood. Or the Samurai will just Drown him Either way

    Wrong on both accounts, buddy.

    A. All European swords were made with grace and finesse in mind. None were made to be used with "brute strength", as you describe it. It's just an urban myth.

    B. All swords, Katana included, are vulnerable to strikes received on the edge. It literally destroys your blade. Proof:

  • European swords are heavy and meant for brute force. The Katana is light and proven to withstand any blade thrown at it.

  • @Nickkraw

You need to understand the difference between hardness and tensile strength, because they're not the same.

For example, your ordinary glass is pretty goddamn hard - takes some specialised tools to even put a scratch on the surface.

But no one makes any support structures out of it, because it lack tensile strength - it's brittle, in other words.

Same with the Katana - it's bloody hard, I'll give you that, but it lacks tensile strength...

  • Most people believe katanas were invented by Japanese, but Japanese actually developed katansa from ancient Chinese swords.

  • anyone else noticed the pokemon ball @ 5:16 ?!

  • @harrison28514 The Japanese Swords are very hard, they would not be damaged, additionally, if you die, you have a sword to be damaged; you'll be dead.

  • @catalinaguerrero I greatly disagree. Have you ever seen a welded broad sword? Absolutely remarkable how the Spanish and Celts were able to fuse iron and steel they way they did in the early days of the Roman Empire. The fact they were making them that way more than 1500 years before the Japanese started doing it is extraordinary.
