This is a continuation of a series of short videos examining common resume errors made by college students and recent grads. Please note that the resume sample in the video contains multiple errors, though each video deals with only one of the errors. • Objective statements can be used in most industries; the field that is least likely to desire one is public relations/marketing. For new grads or current students, an objective statement can help bring focus if your career path is not entirely obvious. The objective statement can start with a verb, but doesn't need to. I usually suggest starting with the type of position - "An entry level arts administration position..." You can write out the numbers, if you like, but numerals are fine, too.

  • which industries would want an objective statement and when would it be better to leave it out?

shouldn't the objective statement begin a verb, like "To find..."?

shouldn't "2 years of sales experience..." be "two years of sales experience..."?

  • thank you
