The remnants of Hurricane Ike dumped over 6 inches of rain in the area, overflowing ditches and creeks, and causing massive widespread flooding in low areas. Many streets across Gibson City and other nearby cities were flooded, yards were underwater, and basements were full of water. Many roads were turned into rivers, and yards and fields turned into lakes. This individual event was only a week after Ike dumped several more inches of rain, and heavy rain from thunderstorms prior to Ike's arrival.
