@pastorart1974 IF! IF? We are tired of waiting on IFs to free us from forced servitude and slavery right here in America. Paternity Fraud / Child Extort is an illegal epidemic in this Country and no amount of bills, statues, amendments are going to fix the totally corrupt CHILD EXTORT COLLECTION AGENCY. It must be abolished and bulldozed completely. They have hi jacked the legal system and these terrorists destroy innocent mens lifes on a daily basis.

The US has among the best systems in the world for protecting children from abuse and neglect. We have family courts, child protective services and mandatory reporting by teachers, coaches, etc. This treaty, if ratified, would become the supreme law of the land and would undermine the rights of American parents to direct the upbringing of their children. Those rights would trampled by UN rules and magistrates. We don't need foreigners determining what is appropriate in America.

@Ziiiv -- Then I guess you have problem kids who are obviously out of control already. Taking away privileges works wonders when getting them to comply with reason. I believe that children who lie are almost always doing so because they learned it in their home or didn't have consistent discipline.
Parenting must be vigilant for best results -- kids won't lie if they know doing so will cause them to lose privileges.

@Ziiiv -- How is protecting children from abusive parents even remotely giving the gov. more power? I guess you're just a little paranoid and maybe you should see a professional about that.
There's nothing wrong with strict discipline, it's when that discipline becomes ABUSE that it crosses the line. Forcing your children to live under archaic and genocidal Biblical 'morality' is SIMPLY WRONG in today's society. I also don't think any Jews trusted the Nazi's for a second.
So you're proposing that if the aforementioned "love and understanding, disapline, structure, stability, etc" are provided, the child will never decide to go ahead and ignore the rules anyway? I have a hard time believing that.
You say that it's possible to "teach" without hitting. Certainly it is, however, spanking is reserved for when the child has been clearly and thoroughly taught what they should do, and has chosen to ignore what they have been taught.

When we enter into an International Treaty. That is what the UN Treaty on the Rights of the Child is. Do your research. This is a real threat.
