  • It means the accents in music fall on different counts (sorry for my English). Where 'normally' you give an accent to the first and third note, now, for example, you could accent the first and second or the second and the fourth.

    So instead of ONE, two, THREE, four - you count ONE, TWO, three, four, or: one TWO, three, FOUR. Try it out loud and u'll feel and hear the difference. Of course which notes you accent depends on the syncope that's written.

  • What is a syncopated rhythm? I've seen the words used in poetry and literature but really didn't know it refers to dancing. In the figurative sense, what do you think it means? Thanks.
