@CrestOfTheShield edited (not sure if my last post got canceled) faith requires belief in somethign which has yet to be proven (i.e any religeon, we have no actual evidence to prove that any exist, im agnostic and im happy that way, you dont need religeon to be a good person) belief requires evidence to convince the mind of the fact. Basing Faith on something which is arguementative is not grounds for a belief of "consicous experience" as nobody will ever be certain of your personal experience.

@CrestOfTheShield belief comes from experience of truth, faith asks you to believe something which has not been proven. Your arguement is flawed however i will not taint this awesome thread with an arguement. peace be with you.

I don't understand this and don't know whether it is just tones or actual words - all I know is when I listen to it I feel calm, peaceful and deeply relaxed

@shirosakijin That's fine for them. My point is that people here are calling it so wonderful, without understanding any of it. I wouldn't watch a French movie or listen to speech in French and cheer it on, never knowing what is being told to me. How does that make any sense? If its just sounds, then someone should say that. But if its actual words, then words have meaning.

This is like watching a French film without studying French and saying that you could not understand it. But just because you couldn't, doesn't mean that the French cant. These monks are Tibetan, they're chanting in classical Tibetan (which they have studied), so they do understand.
Search on the internet the explanation for the "Vajra Guru Mantra" its the explanation of the Om Ah Hung Vajra Guru Padme Siddhi Hung. It's a very long explanation and explains syllable per syllable one by one, you can divide the mantra in 2 parts, 3 parts, 6 parts etc. With very different meanings... but if you are not a buddhist or have studied this probably you are not going to understand it.

And also sanskrit and tibetan syllables are said to be connected to certain parts of the body so the vibration effects the energy (prana) in the body in a certain way
