It's just too big and heavy for me to carry in duty use. And most of the members of my military unit, even as non-knife guys and girls, feel the same way. That means this knife mostly gets left behind. But the BM 9050 auto is a super strong, fast deploying, and comfortable auto with a nicely sized 154CM blade. As always I would prefer a plain edge version but this is the NSN version of the 9050 and that contract was specified as a combo edge for the reasons given in the video. But with its high riding clip, big handle, and substantial 5.2 oz weight I just don't and won't carry this knife very frequently... at least on duty. There's too many other and better options out there, most non-auto, for me. But that's me; if weight and bulk are secondary to you, the 9050 is a good choice in quality autos.

Note US Code 15 US 1244 (2-4):
"Switchblade knives can be shipped by common carrier, that sale, transportation or
distribution, possession or introduction into interstate commerce of switchblade knives is authorized if it is pursuant to a contract with the armed forces or any member or employee thereof acting in the performance of his or her duty may possess switchblade
knives and may have them shipped and sold to him or her."

  • Does ns number mean the military buys it for you.

  • NS means it is part of the US military stocking system. That means your military unit can use its unit funds ie money to buy that knife for unit members' use. A NS listing for an item makes its acquistion by a unit MUCH easier. And since it was paid for by our unit it was free for me as it was issued kit.

  • Awesome stuff nutnfancy. Thank you very much for your military service.

  • Thanks jonny, cool thumbnail you got there too.

  • Nope still prefer plain edge

  • @SuperRip7 thats a matter of opinion, guess you have to have man hands, not hands like a woman for this knife

  • It has the wrong clip on it.

  • Way too bulky. Not worth it.

  • @fakinpwned i dont know you could call benchmade and see if they did that on old models

  • @bladenairsoft i really dont think so, it does have that very high quality to the blade steel took an awesome edge and keeps it very well.... and it loks up solid as hell... i havent yet wound one like it yet... maybe it is? but even if it is its AMAZING quiality

  • @fakinpwned i could be wrong dude but it sounds like a fake

  • @BoristheDragon Hmm, well it still looks pretty cool. But my unit is too uptight to care about stuff like this. They're too worried about the CG of useless tool boxes.

  • @stuntmanmike37 I was a crew chief and got issued one when I went to Afghanistan. Have to say I agree with pretty much everything said here, good knife, but too bulky. Mine has spent most if its time in a box for the last 5 years.

  • I own this Knife As well, I actually purchased it from a ex-military guy who was getting rid of it Due to weight and needed the cash ..the serrated part of the blade is harder than hell to properly sharpen And is the only pitfall I experience with it ..This is a really heavy knife but it's almost impossible to break no matter what you do to it It's virtually bomb proof
