So that debree was the problem thats good information thanks thats going to help a lot.i have a question though when would you need to pull the motor out?what would the dishwasher need to be doing to approach it like that? Sorry and thank you.

Thanks for the tips
Upon inspection of my pump it wasn't open circuit but 120ohms
with a lot of side play in the impeller shaft.
Testing it directly with 240vac the impeller showed would spin once
then stall or just hum at any given random sequence
Im guessing because of the large worn torrance between the rotor and the stator
it now appears to be electrically and mechanically unusable
Answer: TIME FOR A REPLACEMENT

Sounds like time for a new one!
Testing with 240v is a sure fire way to see if it works or not, but difficult to show how to do it safely without the risk of someone injuring or killing themselves ;-)
